Cinderfall

The seam where four countries meet and none of them wins. Desert scrub in the south, open grass through the middle, a shoulder of bare mountain in the west and a fringe of woodland north, all inside a single day's ride. The soil is grey and volcanic, and after rain it smells like a cold hearth.
